Flow and sensory experience are the essence of Natasscha Girelli’s art. Her paintings immediately captivate the eye with lively floral forms that grow and bloom in a vibrant symphony of colors across the canvas. Through soft and expressive brushstrokes, NG speaks to the senses and the imagination, drawing the viewer into a world reminiscent of a primordial ocean where water plants and familiar land flowers sway together in a harmonious, flowing connection. Her paintings reflect the eternal movement and profound beauty we are all part of when we step into life on Earth.
As a viewer, you are invited into an enchanting and healing energy that evokes a deep sense of joy.
Flowing effortlessly through the large, light-filled en suite apartment, "How Deep is Your Love" (Ø150 cm) creates a striking centerpiece — a source of vibrant energy, refined elegance, and a sense of natural well-being.
NG grew up in Glyngøre by the Limfjord, and it is undoubtedly one of the reasons why the fjord plays such a significant role in her inspiration. It was here, on a summer’s day, that the Fjordling was born in NG’s imagination while diving as a child at the clearing of an eelgrass forest. This tender, magical creature lives deep within the Limfjord. A free-swimming jelly-like being that has taken form and possesses a creative force, used only to make everything grow and bloom because it instinctively understands that its own survival depends on it. The Fjordling shapes and influences its world just as we humans do, embracing all that surrounds it. That is its greatness. The Fjordling appears in all of NG’s paintings sometimes pulsating in the foreground, other times hidden deep within the composition.
Solo Exhibition
Mississippi Kunst og kultur Autumn25
My solo exhibition “Between Seaweed and Stardust” unfolds as a journey beneath and beyond — from the quiet depths of the fjord to the vastness of the cosmos.
At the heart of the exhibition stands the large-scale painting “Where Dreams Awaken” (200 × 300 cm), surrounded by smaller works.
The exhibition brings together paintings, ceramics, and light objects, that defines my fjordling universe.
A talk about the magic fjord
NG begins her day with a good cup of coffee and an early walk along the fjord, absorbing its energy, storing it within, and bringing it back to her studio. She paints with acrylic on canvas and loves working in flow, especially on large-scale formats. NG also sparks curiosity through her ceramics, which are clearly inspired by life beneath the surface. In her ceramic work, we encounter a sculptural underwater world of soft and whimsical forms inviting both the eyes and fingertips on an adventure. One could say that the fjord flows through NG’s veins, and she channels its healing energy into everything she creates.
In the studio – World Wide Wave in progress
Captured in a quiet moment in my atelier by the Limfjord .Surrounded by light and plants I am working on World Wide Wave (200 × 200 cm), a large painting that carries the pulse of the fjord — movement, depth, and connection between worlds above and beneath the surface.
My thoughts behind “World Wide Wave”.
Where do we truly belong —
in the glowing squares of the World Wide Web,
or in the vast, flowing rhythm of the World Wide Wave?
Perhaps they are one and the same.
Or perhaps the wave reminds us to return —
to presence, to breath, to the deeper current beneath it all.
